the world’s best
at the European Seafood Exposition to complete a sixth
award in six years
UK based Lyons Seafoods has been awarded the highly prestigious,
Seafood Prix d’Elite award, for the sixth time in six
years, at the world’s largest and most prestigious
seafood exhibition, The European Seafood Exposition.
After scooping multi awards in 2002, 2004 and 2007, Lyons
Seafoods has won the 2008 Seafood Prix d’Elite ‘Best
Convenience’ Award for its new King Prawn & Mussel
Marinière added-value line aimed at restaurant and
pub chain end users. The judges, who were drawn from
leading retailers, foodservice companies, chefs and seafood
buyers from across Europe, were particularly impressed with
the combination of high quality ingredients, portion control
and the speed of preparation.
The King Prawn & Mussel Marinière features a
combination of large, succulent, peeled farmed warm water
King Prawns and Irish rope-grown mussels in a classic cream
marinière sauce. The product comes in an individually
vacuum packed pouch ensuring excellent portion control and
minimal preparation, and is microwaveable from frozen in
minutes providing great speed of service.
The European Seafood Exposition, featured over 1,600 seafood
companies, from 87 countries around the globe and attracted
80,000 visitors over the three day’s of this year’s
exhibition (22-24 April, 2008).
The Seafood Prix d’Elite awards are considered the ‘Oscars’ of
the seafood world and over 700 new seafood products competed
for the two major and five general awards with 37 products
in the final.
