LYONS SEAFOODS SHORT LISTED FOR 2008 PRIX D’ELITE SUCCESS

UK based Lyons Seafoods remains on track for its sixth Prix D’Elite win in six years at the European Seafood Exposition in Brussels, 22-24 April, 2008 with two of its products being short listed in the prestigious Best Foodservice product category.

After scooping awards in 2002, 2004 and 2007, Lyons Seafoods is hopeful that the first two products from its soon-to-be-launched added-value range aimed at restaurant and pub chain end users will impress judges, gaining marks on presentation, flavour and innovation.

Taking three staples of any foodservice menu – king prawns, mussels and tender filets of salmon - Lyons has created a twist on two classic dishes which provide caterers with delicious, cost effective meals with a difference.

The King Prawn & Mussel Marinière features a combination of large, succulent, peeled farmed warm water king prawns and Irish rope-grown mussels from Bantry Bay in a classic cream marinière sauce. The product comes in an individually vacuum packed pouch ensuring excellent portion control and minimal preparation, and is microwaveable from frozen in minutes providing great speed of service.

The Salmon and King Prawn Florentine combines two customer favourites in a healthy meal option that allows menu developers to add their own sauce and vegetable combinations to create unique dishes.

The skinless and boneless salmon fillet has a cut pocket that is filled with three large, succulent farmed warm water King Prawns and a delicious basil pesto and spinach filling.  Preparation is simple with each portion supplied in an individually wrapped pouch, which is ready in only 12 minutes in a hot (180°C) oven.

Paul Vita, Commercial Director at Lyons Seafoods, explains: “These products are designed to offer restaurants and pubs a convenient added value proposition that will be perceived by their customers as a premium menu offering.  Both recipes are an easy way for chefs to get more seafood on to the menu and encourage consumers to try something different.”
