Lyons Seafoods, Europe’s No. 1 processor of King Prawns
and the world leader in Organic King Prawns, is celebrating
its 50th anniversary in 2008.
Over the past decade, Lyons Seafoods has played a key role
in driving sales and the huge rise in the popularity of chilled
King Prawns in the retail sector. King Prawns
have now become a regular part of the weekly shop for millions
of households across the UK, as consumers switch on to the
key benefits of health, convenience and affordability, and
above all their wonderful taste. King Prawns are also
increasingly replacing smaller cold water prawns as the prawn
of choice for all foodservice operators, as customers want
the same high quality and great taste that they enjoy at
home.
From humble beginnings in 1958, the company has built an
industry leading reputation based on its long standing excellence
in sustainable sourcing, product innovation, manufacturing
and supply chain management. In 2006 it was the first seafood
company in Europe to require all its suppliers to be “Best
Aquaculture Practices” (BAP) certified and in 2007
it won its fifth “Prix D’Elite” award
in 5 years at the world’s largest and most prestigious
seafood exhibition, the European Seafood Exposition in Brussels.
Commenting on the 50th anniversary, Ole Norgaard, CEO since
